“Here’s To You: Part I” is a reconfigured piece of “The Land Of Myths And Legends/The Artist Is Kind Of Present Part III”. “Here’s To You: Part I” is still part “The Land Of Myths…” but now, it is also it’s own entity. The decision to expand the piece beyond “The Land of Myths…” was to shine light on what “Here’s To You: Part I” means or at least tries to express and be less likely to be missed as the focus would be squarely on it.

“Here’s To You: Part I” is series of works featuring a fictitious Band Shark Infested Waters. Each of SIW‘s albums relates to a prominent figure in a semi-fictional community. Each of the albums is a eulogy and the story of their lives. SIW wanted to promote the good these figures did to try to make their community better for all.

“Here’s To You: Part I” is looking at how we remember people and how we tell stories. It looks at how, over time, the lines of communication may break and these stories may never be heard of again, losing this information to the ether. It is an attempt to bridge a gap between the physical and the non-physical, almost ethereal – fluctuating between the dissolution of context and content. With removing information there becomes a space where you fill in the gaps. You create the sounds, the stories, but it has a face. A face that one may recognise that could be vessel of these stories.

This piece represents lose and morals; good deeds, and community. “Here’s To You: Part I” sits on either end of a spectrum. One end is the negative: it draws parallels to the lose of indigenous culture, history, and general lose of information.
The other being the positive end: promoting these figures that tried to improve their communities for others, and succeeded.

It’s about telling stories not just mythical ones but also legendary ones.

“Here’s To You: Part I” is a homage to them.
